LARGO, FLA — On this Giving Tuesday, nonprofits and organizations across the Bay Area are hoping people will donate to their cause. One of those nonprofits is The Pineapple Projects.

The Pineapple Projects is based in Largo. The nonprofit helps people in need furnish their homes. Ashley Cornetet created the project in 2020 with a mission of helping people turn their houses into homes.

“To make it feel like home and to let them dream big and to just create spaces that they can thrive in, that they feel safe in,” said Cornetet. 

Cornetet says they help people who have secured housing but don’t have all the items they need. From curtains to beds and couches, they work with each family to determine what they need and how they would like their home to look. 

“The need is just growing, more and more people are needing help. And we’re happy to do it,” said Cornetet. 

The nonprofit has completed 23 homes in 16 months. Cornetet says they've been able to help more than 80 people. 

"We're just really grateful that we get to be a part of their story and support them along the way and watch them thrive. That's the best part."

Cornetet says right now they have 14 families on their waiting list. 

Some of the items they collect at the warehouse include lamps, couches, beds, dressers, rugs, curtains and kitchen items. To learn more about donating items, click here.
