ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A couple and their cat have three Oakland police officers to thank after pulling them from their burning home.

The fire happened Tuesday morning along West Gulley Avenue. Officers said when they arrived they spotted a woman in the window. As the house started filling up with flames and black smoke, they jumped into action in minutes.
“The motherly instinct, I guess. The human side, anybody would have done it if they had the capability of getting in there,” Lt. Angela Campbell, Oakland Police Dept.
The couple fostered nine cats; they were able to rescue one. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
