TAMPA, Fla. — There has been an outpouring of support for Ukrainians since the war began.
In the Bay area, several organizations have provided support for refugees. And in some cases, individuals are taking matters into their own hands.
Santosh Govindaraju of Tampa has been traveling to Ukraine to deliver supplies to children and schools.

- HOW TO HELP: Act 4 Ukraine
And he is heading back there this week.
The organization he is working with, Act 4 Ukraine, has been able to bring in food, clothing and medicine to the southwest part of the country. This is an area that many Ukrainians who haven’t been able to leave the country, have fled to since the Russian attack started.
One of Govindaraju’s big projects was working at a school where many displaced people were living in tough conditions.
He helped turn a storage area into a shower room so people had a place to bathe. He also brought in laundry machines and commercial kitchen equipment. All of this was so the people there could have better conditions.
“They were just touched,” Govindaraju said. “They were shocked, that someone from America would come all this way just to help and bring happiness to them.”
He is going back this week to that same area.
Govindaraju said he also wants to help with mental health of the people in that school with activities like music, mediation and yoga.
And he also plans to work on some women’s facilities there was well.
