It's one of the big reasons they decided to open Tiger Dust and share their love of all things vintage.
“My husband and I have always been collectors, and our house was filled with this store basically," Sefkow said. "Our good friends Liz and Daniel, who own Dysfunctional Grace Company in Ybor City, asked us if we wanted to go in on this store with them since they were looking for a second location, and we jumped at the chance and here we are now.”
Sefkow's love of collecting started when she was a teenager, and since then, she's visited hundreds of thrift stores, finding crazy collectibles. All those years of collecting culminated in their store Tiger Dust that opened just over a year ago in a fun and vibrant spot in the heart of Seminole Heights.
Everything they sell in the store is an oddity — from monkey skeletons and taxidermy to books on the occult. Sefkow even sells mystifying pieces of jewelry that she handcrafts herself.
“At Tiger Dust, it's always Halloween," Sefkow said. "We carry spooky stuff year-round so just swing in for your dose of creep!"
Tiger Dust is open seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m. They also have a sister store location that was opened first in Ybor City called Dysfunctional Grace Art Co. For more information on this one-of-a-kind oddities shop, visit its website.
