TAMPA, Fla. — When you walk into Jennifer Robinson's fifth grade classroom, you will immediately see why she was nominated to be an A+ Teacher. Her students at Booker T. Washington Elementary School are engaged and excited about learning thanks to her dedication to their success.

“It’s never about me. It’s always about them. Finding their voice, loving themselves, loving each other and then essentially leaving this space prepared for whatever comes," said Robinson.

What You Need To Know

Mrs. Robinson has been teaching at Booker T. Washington Elementary School for six years. Her career in education began almost two decades ago.

Her goal is to prepare her students for the next grade level and for life outside of school. Every day she tells her students, who she calls scholars, that they are capable of anything they put their mind to. Mrs. Robinson helps them learn that through chants like, “Scholars work hard, scholars succeed. We are scholars!"

“They sit up a little taller. They take pride in the culture of our class," said Robinson.

She wants them to be proud of who they are and all they accomplish. In her classroom, mistakes are celebrated as beautiful and part of life.

“Learning from our mistakes makes us stronger and that’s a belief we have in our classroom. Celebrating mistakes is embraced in our classroom. It’s a norm in our classroom," said Robinson.

Mrs. Robinson makes each moment in the classroom all about her students.

“They’re heard, they’re seen. Their voices matter. They’re valued. And holding them accountable. I won’t let you fail. My intention is you will succeed. I am you’re biggest cheerleader," said Robinson.
