“Everything connects…nothing is a solo part," actress Detra Earnest said.
Earnest has been into the theater since she was a child. She has made it her profession as an adult, but this current acting gig is a bit different than ones she's had in the past.
“I’ve always wanted to act," Earnest said. "I don't care what the part is. If someone is gonna give me a chance, I'm gonna take it, so I'm here, and I'm doing it.”
This year, she’s taking on a new adventure as a scare actor at Dade City's premier haunted attraction, Scream-a-Geddon.
This annual haunt sees about 100 scare actors don terrifying costumes to take up residence in the attraction’s five scream-inducing haunted houses.
Earnest is the welcoming act at the Ravenhill Asylum, where she plays Nurse Jackie, a character you should never turn your back on.
The other haunts at Scream-a-Geddon are a well-crafted blend of Halloween's most terrifying players — from clowns in the midway, to the other haunted houses that depict crazed lunatics in a jail, zombies and a haunted home in the bayou.
If you aren't afraid to take on these haunts, Scream-a-Geddon is the perfect way to get into the festive Halloween season and enjoy all the spooks this time of year offers.
Scream-a-Geddon is open daily starting at 7 p.m. through Oct. 31. In addition to the five haunted attractions, it also features a zombie paintball experience and a monster midway that has a beer garden and food court.
