TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane Ian victims in Southwest Florida are getting help from a Bay Area volleyball coach who knows first-hand what they’re going through.
Carlos Rolon and his family moved to Tampa from Puerto Rico five years ago. They lost everything in Hurricane Maria. The family struggled to start over.
Now, Rolon has a successful volleyball club and he wants to give back to victims of Hurricane Ian.
“It’s a totally different feeling,” Rolon said. “Like yes, we can do it. We can do this. We can do something for the community."
Rolon collected donations through his charity, Dynamite Cares. Then, he drove to Southwest Florida to deliver everything. While this was the first trip to Fort Myers, it probably wont be his last. Rolon is hoping to raise more money through his charity.
He wants to provide more donations to those who need help.
