"We have increased volume this time of year, we’re seeing about 25-30 percent more trash and recycling in our black and blue barrels," said Heather Parsons, Senior Public Information Coordinator with the City of Clearwater.
With more to move, Parsons has a reminder about recycling that holiday trash.
"We’d like to see our residents breaking down those cardboard boxes and putting them in your blue bin. Also as far as wrapping paper goes, if your wrapping paper has foil or glitter or any kind of embellishments like that goes in your trash can, and regular wrapping paper goes in your recycling bin," said Parsons.
Parsons says it's important to keep the stream of recylables clean, reminding things like plastic bags and eating materials such as paper plates, napkins and cutlery can contaminate an entire batch.
Parsons reminds you may now put most smaller electronics in your black trash bin for pick-up.
