District officials say the 10 planned public meetings will be a chance for parents to hear how the school boundary change proposals could affect their children, submit feedback and speak to both district officials and the consultants who designed the options.
“Nothing is final at this time,” Hillsborough County School Board member Nadia Combs said. “Things will be finalized when it gets to the board and what choice the board members make. But this is the time to really give your input.”
The district has laid out three possible scenarios with the least extreme affecting about 11,000 students and the most extreme meaning changes for 24,000 students.
The plans could also potentially close about a half dozen low-enrollment schools to save in operational and allow the district to repurpose those buildings.
