The Oliv Bar in downtown Orlando is transformed into a French castle, and guests are greeted by fun-loving actors who make the classic fairytale of a cursed prince come to life.
Among them is Arthur Bening, who begins the night as a bartender before going on a royal journey.
This is his second show with Viral Venues, which puts on similar events around the world.
“I love acting — that's why I have been doing it for 10 years," he said. "And this really revitalized everything for me."
Throughout the 90-minute experience, he and the other actors guide the guests through activities that allow them to create bespoke cocktails with a hint of magic.
“People get to come, they get to enjoy some nice cocktails, they get a show," said "Beauty and the Beast" Orlando manager Cassandra Rathie. "It's also a little bit escape room-esque, so people really get to enjoy it and get involved, not only with the actors and with the characters but also with the story itself."
Bening said that, for him, getting the guests involved is the best part.
“If there are people who also want to be part of it — I was a class clown growing up and I loved being a part of things, and this is exactly the place to do that,” he said.
To get the final cocktail, guests must solve a series of riddles to get a smoking concoction that will grant a wish.
“Preferably for me to be human again,” said Bening, who plays Beast in the show.
For him, watching the guest enjoy themselves, take photos and immerse themselves in the world he helped create is his version of happily ever after.
“It brings joy to me, and it sparks life in the actors," he said. "And I don’t see another way it could be more fun."
The event goes on at The Oliv Bar, which is located at 745 N. Magnolia Ave., seven days a week through Feb. 22.
