PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Dalton Dunham’s love of the outdoors and Florida started long before his days as a guide with the Island Ferry Eco Tours company leading e-bike tours to different locations around Fort De Soto Park.
What You Need To Know

- Guides like Dalton Dunham share history and the area's natural beauty
- Other types of tours also are available
“My family has been here for about 60 years now, and I grew up with four boat captains in my family,” said Dunham, who has worked for the tour company for years. “I was kind of one of the can't-help-its and fell in love with what they did and wanted to do it myself."
The certified boat captain also enjoys kayaking, scuba diving and anything that allows him to experience the great Florida outdoors. It’s a major reason he took up full-time work as a tour guide, too.
The Fort De Soto History e-bike tours are 15-mile excursions around Fort De Soto that stop off at multiple locations to take in the natural beauty of the area and help inform bike riders about the history while also keeping the sites beautiful through conservation. Tours include visits to a small local museum and a walk around the grounds of the fort.
“I love everything they do and are a part of, and I'm so fortunate they allowed me to be a part of this company and grow with them,” Dunham said.
Island Ferry Eco Tours offers other excursions, too — many of which are not bike tours. To find out more about them or to book a tour, visit the company’s website.
