AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Crews have finished cleanup work after a Wednesday ammonia leak at a Coca-Cola plant.
The incident was reported just after 10 a.m. at 705 Main St. in Auburndale.
City of Auburndale Communications Manager Seth Teston, citing the city's fire chief, said the container that was leaking was 20,000 pounds and was an ammonia leak. The leak was stopped just before noon. Officials earlier said it was a chlorine leak.
Employees were evacuated to the edge of the plant. A shelter in place order was issued for a two-block area east of the plant but was rescinded at 3:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported.
Hazmat crews have since left, though the Coca-Cola plant will remain closed for the day.
