ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A teacher from Manatee County has died, days after being hit by a car in downtown St. Petersburg.
The crash happened on the corner of 3rd Street North and Central Avenue last Saturday evening.
According to St. Pete Police, Jeffrey Wilson and his wife were crossing 3rd Street in the crosswalk when a Nissan Rogue attempted to turn, hitting them both.
That driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Wilson, 54, was a PE teacher at Freedom Elementary School in Bradenton.
A Freedom Elementary Facebook group said Wilson’s wife, Ariane, was treated for a hurt shoulder and some broken ribs.
On Tuesday, the school said Jeffrey's conditioned worsened, with him losing brain activity and being pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
