The incident began early Wednesday when at approximately 1 a.m. a London Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with no visible registration or rear lights. The suspects fled in the vehicle on U.S. 42 north out of London where they stopped at a truck stop and fled on foot.

An officer attempted to deploy a taser, according to a news release from the London Ohio Police, when the male suspect fell and pointed a handgun at the officer. The suspect then fled to a nearby semi tractor truck with no trailer.

According to the news release, the suspect and a female suspect fled in the truck with an occupant of the truck.

The truck hit a London Police cruiser while fleeing but no officers have been reported as injured.

At 3:23 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol Special Response Team assisted the London Police Division for the active hostage situation. Upon the Patrol’s arrival, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was negotiating with the suspects around 5 a.m.
