PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A 73-year-old Clearwater woman died Wednesday evening after being struck by lightning.

According to Clearwater Police, Kathleen M. Carrick was struck just before 8 p.m. near a home on Gulf Boulevard on Sand Key.

Officers said she was found dead on a sidewalk inside the Bayside Gardens IV condominium complex between the parking area and one of the buildings.

There were no witnesses to the incident but police said a man discovered Carrick's body on the sidewalk after storms had rolled through the area.

An investigation is ongoing.
