TAMPA, Fla. – Jennifer Carpenter teaches biology at Leto High School.

She’s been a teacher for about 14 years and loves helping her students succeed.

“This year we actually have a class motto, which is 'Ohana,'" said Carpenter. "'Ohana' means family and family means no one gets left behind and in my class, we are a family."

  •  She's been an educator for about 14 years

She briefly left the classroom to take a role coaching teachers within Hillsborough County Public Schools. But she says she missed the kids so she returned to teaching and still coaches her colleagues.

“I love working with other teachers and brainstorming,” said Carpenter.

It’s a perfect position for Miss Carpenter. She says she’s able to grow as a teacher from helping others.

“It makes me feel good just because I know I’m helping them and I’m using this role for something. I’m actually supporting other teachers which in turn supports more kids,” said Carpenter.

She also published a book for teachers and workbook for students.

“Nothing truly followed the Florida standards and focused just on like the meat and potatoes,” said Carpenter.

Carpenter says by the end of the year, the workbook has all the materials the students need to know. Her book and student workbook are available on Amazon.
