The Tampa Bay Rays, joined by officials with the city of St. Pete and Pinellas County, announced on Tuesday plans for a new stadium to be built near the current Tropicana Field.

Speakers included the team's principal owner, Stu Sternberg, St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch and others.
