TAMPA, Fla. — The 34th annual India Festival is expected to draw upwards of 12,000 people.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, is a chance for the community to delve into Indian culture, including food and dance.
One of the highlights at this year’s festival will be a display of dances by the Academy of Odissi Dance and many more. Amika Rautray has been dancing for years and is looking forward to showing off some of the traditional dances.
“Raise awareness for kids…to see the Indian culture experience and experience the dance, food and the clothing,” Rautray said.
Visit Tampa made the announcement for this year’s festival in downtown. Jyoti Gandhi, chair of India Fest, said the festival has grown dramatically over the years.
“In the beginning, we had 2,000 attendees to now more than 12,000,” Gandhi said. “It benefits the community as well as Tampa Bay area business.”
The festival will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
