ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — For the fifth time in the last six seasons, Tampa Bay Rays’ manager Kevin Cash is a finalist for American League Manager of the Year.

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America lists Cash as a finalist, along with Baltimore’s Brandon Hyde and Texas’ Bruce Bochy. The winner will be announced Nov. 14.

Cash, 45, won the award in 2020 and 2021.

Cash, who will start the 2024 season as the longest tenured manager with his team, has guided Tampa Bay to five straight playoff appearances.
This season, the team won 99 games to qualify for the AL wild card playoffs but was swept by the Rangers.

In nine years with the Rays, Cash has a World Series appearance, two AL East crowns and has totaled 739 wins.

With 16 more victories in 2024, Cash will surpass Joe Maddon for the franchise leader in managerial wins.
