“The more fun that they think that they’re having at school, the more likely that they want to come and learn and do the work for you,” said Hall.

Hall says she learned a lot during her first year of teaching. She says a fellow teacher taught her how to run her classroom.

“I realized after my first year that if this is what I want the kids to be able to do, this is how I need to explain it to them, practice, they need to see it,” said Hall.

Now she helps other new teachers create a system that works for them. Hall is the mentor leader at Lacoochee Elementary.

“Research shows that if you have a mentor or somebody that you look up to that you’re more likely to be successful, to stay in the classroom longer, succeed, all that good stuff,” said Hall.

Hall shared that she became an educator to bring about change.

“One thing that’s really important to me is early literacy and literacy in general and making a difference in low-income schools,” said Hall.

Hall says she loves teaching and helping her students prepare for first grade.

“When they start to pick up on the things that I do or when they pick up on manners or social skills or things like that, that makes it all worth it,” said Hall.
