The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is closing Broadway Ave. under I-75 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m on Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers will have to detour around the work area using Williams Road, Dr. Martin Lutkher King, Jr. Blvd (MLK) and Falkenburg Road.

FDOT says the closures are for crews to work on the overpass there as part of the I-75 interchange project at MLK Blvd.

The overall project is to help improve traffic flow and safety in the area. FDOT is building two separate northbound I-75 lanes for traffic between MLK Blvd. and Interstate 4. That’s often a spot with a lot of traffic, especially during the morning commute.

In addition, the MLK interchange is being converted to a diverging diamond.

The $89 million project is expected to be finished in summer of 2025. Other closures associated with the project are expected until the work is done.
