CLEARWATER, Fla. — Emergency officials say no one was injured Tuesday morning when a crane crashed into a building in Clearwater.
Officials say the incident happened before 10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Feather Sound Drive. The crane was removed Wednesday afternoon.
Adam Bild, attorney for Crystal Bay Condo Association, said the crane was lifting new pieces of the roof to the top of the building when the crane exceeded what it could safely lift and tipped over.
One resident said she heard people yelling, "Stop, stop," but it was too late. Another resident said the crane's impact felt like an earthquake.
Crews are working to bring the crane that tipped over onto this Feather Sound Dr. condo back to level grounding. Still not sure as to what caused the tipping but thankfully no one was hurt. @BN9 pic.twitter.com/AmdJKfXqIn

There were no injuries reported.
“As devastating as an event like this is, having no injuries is wonderful," Bild said. "So we're very relieved that there are no injuries, and we're excited to get the crane removed and everyone's life in the building back to normal as quickly as possible.”
The building will inspected for damage.
Bild said he isn't sure if the weight of the material was the main factor, or if wind played a role as well.
