TAMPA, Fla. — Metropolitan Ministries is making a last call this week for donations for its annual holiday drive.

With Christmas quickly approaching, Met Ministries officials said although its donations of canned food items and toys for younger kids have been strong, gifts for teenagers and for perishable food items, like hams and turkeys are still running short.

What You Need To Know

  • Metropolitan Ministries has helped more than 4 million families in need in the past year

  • Annual Holiday Tent in Tampa is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for donation drop-offs

  • Various pop-up locations are scheduled throughout the week in the Tampa Bay area

  • Donations can be made online and delivered to the Holiday Tent this week

Brensey Thompson-Hurst with Met Ministries says they’ve made it easy for people to donate to teenagers with online tools and lists.

“We are looking at bikes for them. We are looking at gift cards to different places that we can give them. Hygiene things that we can give them. Nail kits for girls, things like that,” said Thompson-Hurst. “But you can also go online, we have some registries online through Amazon, Walmart and Target that have those gifts listed out already.”

Once you buy online, the gifts will be delivering to the Met Ministries Holiday Tent in Tampa for distribution.

To donate hams and turkeys, Met Ministries says those can be dropped off at Donation Lane at the Holiday Tent daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2609 N. Rome Ave. in Tampa.
