TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Selton Miguel scored 22 points to lead USF and Brandon Stroud dropped in a layup with 29 seconds as the Bulls beat Charlotte 72-69 on Tuesday night at the Yeungling Center.
Chris Youngblood and Kobe Knox each scored 13 points for the Bulls (16-5, 9-1 American Athletic Conference).
USF trailed by 10 at the half and by as much as 17 points in the second half.
The Bulls’ furious rally was complete when USF grabbed its first lead of the game with less than 30 seconds on the clock in front of a crowd of 6,000.
USF extended its winning streak to eight conference games, which is the longest in program history. The win puts USF atop the American Athletic Conference standings at 9-1, ahead of Charlotte (8-2) and no. 20 Florida Atlantic (8-1).
Dishon Jackson finished with 16 points and seven rebounds for the 49ers (14-8, 8-2). Igor Milicic Jr. added 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks for Charlotte. In addition, Nik Graves had 12 points. The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for the 49ers.
USF next plays Saturday against Rice on the road.
