A second suspect was identified as 30-year-old Kevarius Green and is being sought along with 22-year-old Demarius Wilson.

Police have been searching for the driver of a white 2014 Dodge Challenger, who was believed to be involved in the shooting at an apartment complex. That suspect has now been identified as Green.

According to Lakeland Police, the shooting happened just after 6:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Cove Apartment Homes just off Kathleen Road in Lakeland.

Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said that four people were found on the scene in a 2023 Toyota RAV4, which included 3-year-old Jaquez Norton, along with the child’s mother, 21-year-old Yeimarie Baez, her 3-month-old and 23-year-old Robert Einzig.

Einzig suffered from a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, and the mother and her 3-month-old were not injured, police said.

Taylor said that Einzig, the mother and her children were at Cambridge Cove to visit a friend. New surveillance video from Cambridge Cove shows the white Dodge Challenger blocking the path of the Toyota RAV4 that was trying to leave the area, police said.

Two people — 22-year-old Kemarius Wilson, who got out of the passenger side of the Dodge Challenger with a handgun, and an unidentified suspect who was holding a rifle — approached the driver’s side of the RAV4, where the mother was sitting behind the driver’s wheel, according to authorities.

Police said the unidentified male got out of the driver’s side of the Dodge Challenger with a rifle and approached Einzig on the passenger’s side of the RAV4.

Police said that at some point, words were exchanged and gunshots followed, and Einzig returned gunfire with his handgun while the mother fled the vehicle after grabbing the 3-month-old from the backseat.

Police said that the unidentified suspect with the rifle had stuck both Norton and Wilson during the gunfire.

The suspect with the rifle has now been identified as Green.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for Green, with two counts of first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and attempted first-degree murder with a weapon.

Wilson's brother, 22-year-old Demarius Wilson, was also involved in Monday's shooting.

Police said that driver of the Dodge Challenger then drove back to a relative of Wilson’s at the 800 block of West 14th Street, where Demarius was also residing. Demarius assisted in putting his brother into a private vehicle that transported him to Lakeland Regional Heath, where police were then notified. Kemarius was declared deceased at the hospital.

Police said Demarius was seen with Wilson in the Dodge Challenger before the shooting.

Demarius has been charged with tampering with evidence and is currently on federal pre-trial release for wire fraud.

Lakeland police said the evidence they have so far is the Dodge Challenger, which was located in the 800 block of West Crawford Street by Lakeland patrol units. They are encouraging anyone with information in regards to the shooting to call Lakeland Det. Cory Lawson at (863)-834-8975 or cory.lawson@lakelandgov.net.
