TAMPA, Fla. — The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force announced Wednesday that it is not pursuing criminal charges against a deputy involved in a stabbing that led to a shooting on Monday.

Suspect Amy Yeager, 44, is facing multiple charges, according to St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway.

During a press conference, Holloway said on Monday, Yeager stabbed her 70-year-old boyfriend during a fight. The man reportedly went to a neighbor’s house for help, and Yeager followed, trying to break into that home. In body camera footage that was released, Yeager can be seen ignoring the deputy's instructions to drop the knife.

Yeager then goes toward the deputy with the knife raised, saying, "Kill me now."

Holloway said that's when the deputy fired several rounds, striking Yeager. She was hospitalized and is currently listed in critical condition. 

The police chief said Yeager is charged with attempted homicide, armed residential burglary and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
