WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. — Our pets bring us so much joy and love.

The Loffler family in Hernando County wants to return the favor to all pets, even if they have no home.

What You Need To Know

  • Animalade.org works together with the Thrifty Dog thrift store to help causes benefiting rescued or abused animals

  •  In 2017, the Loffler family started the Thrifty Dog and then launched Animalade.org

  •  The Lofflers have bigger plans for a 16,000 square foot facility to house all parts of the operation

They also have bigger plans, which means more love for more animals.

The Lofflers love dogs and wanted to help other animals who are not taken care of as well as their doggies.

They produced a great idea.

"You always have some item that you can get rid of and it's easier for someone to donate an item they have," said Anthony Loffler as he explained their nonprofit called Animalade.

It starts with a thrift store called the Thrifty Dog.

They take donated items and then sell them.

With the proceeds, the Lofflers can help other animal welfare organizations that do dog rescues and foster pets.

"It's amazing. When I wanted to start this venture, I knew I couldn't do it all by myself,” said LeeAnn Loffler, the family matriarch and head of the operation. “And both Jeri and Anthony stepped up, left their positions of where they were working and said let's do this together."

In 2017, LeeAnn Loffler and her two grown children Jeri and Anthony opened the Thrifty Dog thrift store.

It works together with Animalade.org to make this ‘Cause for Paws’ happen.

They have much bigger ambitions.

"We want to get into oceanography,” said Anthony. “We want to be able to go to natural disaster areas and assist in homing pets that were lost and need medical attention."

The Lofflers are planning to open a brand new 16,000-square-foot facility.

By next year, it will house the thrift store, offices for Animalade and a vet clinic.

People will get to shop around for deals. Dollar donations can come in to support the Animalade operation.

Then, Animalade gets to help even more. It is a one stop shop.

"When you see the outcome and the good that you're doing, it just makes everything great," Anthony said. "And this whole purpose worth it."
