He’s chopping down tall leafy stalks with a machete.

“I just love animals, plants, and anything to do with the earth,” Lezcano said.

The stalks are for his fellow farm residents.

There’s a cow named Pizza.

And goats — baby goats.

Guests can help take care of them.

A tour of the farm offers the Old Florida vibe. It’s about 70 acres, and it includes the remnants of an Old Florida citrus grove.

It borders the Flying Eagle Preserve near a lake system.

That’s where the glamping tents are close to nature.

That’s how Lezcano spends his time — close to nature, honoring his own legacy.

“My family actually had a big farm in the Caribbean before communism took over in Cuba. So I kind of have that in my genealogy I guess you could say,” said Lezcano.

And this is how he reconnects and walks in his family’s footsteps — one food forest meal at a time.
