The in-person doula training will be three days long, from June 28-30, officials said. Upon completion of the training, those interested must pass the certification exam to become certified.

A doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest experience possible.

The doulas build a relationship with the client and prepares them for labor by reviewing their birth plan and practicing comfort measures that will be used during labor. Doulas are generally present during the client’s labor and are there to support them through the process. Doulas also work with the client after delivery, ensuring the client is connected to resources. A doula typically works with 1-4 clients per month.

Applicants must submit their certified doula training scholarship request by May 19 in order to be considered for sponsorship.
