Police officials, alongside Jevario Buie’s family, pleaded with the public to come forward with any information Thursday.

Tampa Police released a new video as they investigate the 14-year-old’s murder. Buie’s mother and grandmother were there as the announcement was made that the reward for tips that lead to the identification of the suspect or suspects has been raised to $20,000.

The two women did not comment, but Buie’s grandfather did make a statement for the public to come forward at Buie’s funeral on May 4.

“Jevario just didn’t die — Jevario was murdered, and we really need the community’s help to bring those people to law enforcement’s attention,” Buie’s grandfather, Michael Baldwin, said.

Family and law enforcement have been looking for answers for nearly a month.

Police said Buie was found shot to death by railroad tracks near Busch Boulevard on April 17.

“We need our community to step forward,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “We know someone out there knows something. Anyone can come forward. You can even be anonymous.”

Asking Tampa residents to help close a case, to help bring some closure to a grieving family.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, the ATF, Florida Attorney General’s Office and community partners, including Titus O’Neal, joined to raise the amount of that reward.
