TAMPA — The Tampa Police Department is searching for a woman connected with an early-morning Amber Alert.

The alert was issued at about 1 a.m., Monday for a 9-year-old girl who they said was with 34-year-old Sylvia Pagan and 38-year-old Jovanni Steffani.

The girl was found safe at a Suwannee County hotel in north Central Florida. She was checked at a nearby hospital as a precaution but is OK.

A "missing and endangered alert" has been issued for Pagan.

Steffani was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said he died.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement released these images when the agency announced the Amber Alert on Monday.
