What You Need To Know

  • Andrew Warren and Suzy Lopez are facing off in debate (along with Democratic candidate Elizabeth Strauss)

  • Lopez was appointed to State Attorney after Gov. DeSantis suspended Warren from the post in 2022

  • Warren and Strauss will face off in the August primary; winner will face Lopez

Warren looks to get his job back after Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended him in 2022.

The governor appointed Lopez to fill that role, and she’s running to get elected.

Warren was fired for alleged ‘neglect of duty’ after he signed a pledge not to prosecute alleged crimes from abortion or gender transitional care.

Warren previously said he would not run for his old job over concern of being suspended yet again but later changed his mind.

But before facing Lopez in an election, Warren will face Democrat Elizabeth Strauss in the August primary. Strauss also is participating in the debate.

Strauss, a Tampa native, comes from a legal background and a well-known legal family. Whoever wins will then be up against Lopez.

Lopez, meanwhile, was appointed by the governor to replace Warren and she has garnered support from local law enforcement and the law community.
