LAKE WALES, Fla. — The city of Lake Wales is adding a new way to get around its downtown area in style.

The service, called The Squeeze, has been available since last year for Lakeland residents. Since May 13, golf carts from the service have been circulating downtown Lake Wales as a new free option in transportation.

What You Need To Know

  • Lake Wales has partnered with Citrus Connection to create The Squeeze transportation

  • The Squeeze services uses golf carts to give people free rides around downtown Lake Wales

  • The Squeeze operates Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Getting on a golf cart is such an adventure,” said Lake Wales Main Street executive director Ronni Wood. “You can’t help but not smile when you’re on a golf cart getting the breeze through your hair.”

Riding on a Squeeze cart, riders can see construction is well underway in the community.

Having this new transportation, according to Wood, only enhances the place she’s called home for over 40 years.

“There are a lot of people who have not been in downtown for years, and with the Squeeze, we hope to incentivize them,” Wood said.

On top of introducing The Squeeze — which gives free rides for anyone around downtown Lake Wales with seven stops along its route — the city has its Park Avenue redesign, which has seen significant progress in its appearance since construction began last year.

“The Squeeze is just an added layer, and it’s the top layer of what we can offer in our downtown,” Wood said.

Each golf cart fits eight passengers and operates Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
