WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A pilot was pulled from a glider Saturday afternoon after it crashed near a Winter Haven intersection. 

The pilot, who has not yet been identified by police, was rushed to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. 

It happened around 1:50 p.m. Saturday on Avenue K Southeast by Winter Haven High School.

Police say the pilot was the only person on the aircraft and there were no injuries to anyone on the ground.

Photos show the glider upside down on the roadway and partially split into pieces. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
