TAMPA, Fla. — Officials are investigating a fire that tore through a former Tampa restaurant on Busch Boulevard Tuesday evening.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, firefighters found huge flames and smoke pouring out of the former Sonny’s BBQ restaurant in the 2400 block of east Busch Boulevard just before 7 p.m.
While putting out the fire, crews were forced to leave the building when the roof started to collapse. There were no injuries reported.
Tampa police also responded to the scene and helped divert traffic after the roadway was shut down a few blocks from Busch Gardens.
The roadway was reopened a few hours later.
Fire officials continue to investigate.
