PLANT CITY, Fla. — Liberty Christian School director Gina Fredette is also a VPK teacher at the small preschool that operates inside Liberty Southern Baptist Church.

“We’re honest, we’re caring. We’re committed to the children, first and foremost, and to the families,” she said.

Fredette, known by the kids as "Miss Gina," says education was her calling when she became a teacher 35 years ago.

She recently had a special moment recently with a former student after Owen Spell nominated her to be an A+ Teacher. The two reunited and took a walk down memory lane.

“Miss Gina is one of the most caring people in the entire world,” Spell said.

Spell said Fredette made such a big impact that he’s still thinking about it six years after attending VPK at Liberty Christian School.

Fredette said the preschool works hard to make experience memorable for students.

“Everything is faith based, right down to the curriculum, the daily activities — teaching the kids how to pray, and doing things in a calm and peaceful environment,” she said.

August will mark the 10th year that Liberty Christian School has been helping children learn in Plant City, and Fredette said she’s excited for the new school year ahead.

“I’ve enjoyed it so much and I have no idea what the future holds, but I’m hoping for more moments like that with Owen because that was pretty cool,” she said.
