ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays on Friday officially released outfielder and designated hitter Harold Ramirez, days after designating him for assignment.

Ramirez, in his third season with the Rays, passed unclaimed through waivers, with the team unable to agree on a trade.

Ramirez, 29, hit .300 and .313 the last two seasons for Tampa Bay, and while he was hitting .268 this season, his on-base percentage was below .300.

In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the team said: "We'll miss you, Harold."

In his career, Ramirez has 499 hits, 37 home runs and 231 RBIs.

The Rays acquired him from the Chicago Cubs in March 2022.

Entering a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves that kicks off Friday at Truist Park, the Rays were 33-36 and in last place in the American League East.
