CLEARWATER, Fla. — Over $1 million was raised for charity through this year’s Valspar Championship, and this week, some of that money is being delivered to programs in Pinellas County, including the First Tee golf camp for kids in Clearwater.

A more than $47,000 check was presented at the Chi Chi Rodriguez driving range Tuesday by the Copperheads charity, as part of their “Paint the Town Green” Charity Caravan.

“It really helps us do what we do programing wise,” said Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation CEO James Poulter. “Without the partnership we have with the Valspar Championship, we wouldn’t be able to impact the hundreds, even thousands of kids that we do through our First Tee program.”

Other organizations receiving funding from the charity include LiFT Academy in Clearwater, the St. Petersburg College Foundation, Wheelchairs 4 Kids in Tarpon Springs and the Tarpon Springs Band Boosters.
