Flood waters were still flowing across roads Tuesday, some even impassible by vehicles.

People like Alex Boatwright resorted to using a paddle boat to make his way through the neighborhood of Sherwood Forest.

“I haven’t seen water like this since I was 6 or 8 years old and I don’t think it was like this,” Boatwright said.

Other residents like Melissa Wells say they were shocked at how fast and how high the flood waters were in the neighborhood.

“It was getting scary,” she said. “We were definitely marking the water all through the day and yesterday. It was going up and not down.”

Flood waters never reached Wells’ home, but flooded two of her cars.

“The water was up past the tires, so the back seat of my son’s car, his stuff was all floating around in the back,” she said. “It was heartbreaking. He leaves for college in a week and a half and he was planning to take that one.”

Just down the road, David Walters wasn’t so lucky. The water rose more than a foot inside his home and flooded out one of his cars.

“The wife always wanted me to clean out the garage – well, guess what – it’s all gonna go,” Walters said.
