They’ll play their matches on Blake High School’s freshly renovated Riverfront Stadium in downtown Tampa.

In February, the $6 million renovations began, transforming the high school field into a professional soccer facility.

The new stadium has a FIFA-approved turf, brand new locker rooms, more seating, a high-tech scoreboard and a fan zone.

Tiffany Hubert, with the Tampa Bay Sun, said the team will use Riverfront Stadium for 3-5 years, and will include students in game-day operations.

“It’s an immersive experience for sure,” Hubert said. “It’s important to give back to the campus, you know? This is a performing arts high school, so everything from our video boards and press box and things like that. We really look forward to involving the students into our game day experience.”

Renovations to Blake’s Riverfront Stadium extend off-property with a fan zone that extends on to Tampa’s Riverwalk, potentially helping the team to attract new fans that have never attended a women’s professional soccer game before.

The Tampa Bay Sun kicks off their inaugural season on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against the Dallas Trinity.

They are at home again next Sunday, Aug. 25, against the D.C. Power.

Home matches follow in September, October and November. Tickets range from $20 to $50 per match.
