TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finalized their 53-man roster for the upcoming season, and the team is made up of mostly homegrown talent.

The final roster is in, and it speaks volumes about the 2024 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It also says a lot about the years 2023 and 2022.
The entire 2024 rookie class made the 53-man roster.
But so did the majority of the 2022 and 2023 draft classes. In fact, 22 of the team's past 23 draft selections make up one of the NFL’s youngest rosters. To keep that youth meant making difficult decisions and hard cuts.
“Well, they work hard, and they’ve got good chemistry,” said Bucs Head Coach Todd Bowles. “That’s the biggest thing you can see right now. You gotta wait until they play to see them play. Obviously, we want to play mistake free football.”
Several rookies earned prominent spots on the Bucs roster, including first-round draft pick Graham Barton, who nabbed the starting center job, and Jalen McMillan who secured the No. 3 wide receiver spot.
The Bucs are keeping two quarterbacks on the final roster.
Just like last season, Baker Mayfield is the starter and Kyle Trask the backup. The former Florida Gator had a solid final preseason game that solidified his spot on the team.
“(We’re) very confident in Kyle,” Bowles said. “I thought he had a good couple of years here. And he’s a very confident guy. He understands the offense and he knows what he has to do and he’s a competitor.”
But this is Baker’s team.
And he’s setting the tone with the new offensive scheme. He’s got his usual weapons in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. And a renewed emphasis on the ground game is expected to really open things up for the offense.
“I feel really good about where we’re at offensively,” Mayfield said. “Where the guys are at in learning the system of what we’re trying to get accomplished, I feel confident, especially now that we’re heading into the real thing.”
