TAMPA, Fla. — The state’s second Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday of 2024 is wrapping up.

Friday is the final day for residents to prepare for the rest of storm season by stocking up on supplies tax free and preparing emergency kits.


What You Need To Know


Although it has been a relatively quiet storm season so far in 2024, the peak of hurricane season is next week. Hurricane season lasts until the end of November.

Stores across the state have been participating in the sales tax holiday, with large quantities of batteries, flashlights, gas cans, generators and non-perishable items, all available tax free.

Items for pets, including litter pans, leashes and pet pads, are also included in the holiday.

Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers can also be bought with no sales tax applied.
