ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A mother and daughter were rescued from a burning bungalow early Wednesday.
According to St. Pete Fire Rescue, firefighters responded just after midnight to a fire at a two-story home on the 2600 block of Bayside Drive South.
Upon arrival, crews were met with flames engulfing the entire structure, with fire spreading rapidly and threatening nearby homes.
Two occupants, a mother and daughter, were trapped in the backyard bungalow located behind the main house.
With no way to escape due to the size of the fire and a locked gate, firefighters quickly located the pair and safely evacuated them from the bungalow.
The fire burned for over an hour as crews worked to bring it under control.
Firefighters faced intense heat while stopping the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, which were already exposed to the flames.
The fire was contained to the original structure.
There were no injuries reported.
