In Orange County, the mayor confirmed that a man stepped on a live power line while cleaning his yard and was electrocuted.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that the medical examiner’s office reported four deaths related to Hurricane Milton — three during the storm and one prior.
Officials said two deaths were caused by trees falling on homes — a 79-year-old woman in Ormond Beach and a 54-year-old woman in Port Orange.
In the other two cases, the sheriff’s office said the deaths were medical events. Officials said one death occurred while a person was boarding up before the storm, and another occurred during storm conditions that prevented an immediate emergency medical response.
The sheriff’s office posted on Facebook saying they “send sincere condolences to these families who lost a loved one in this storm.”
Three people were also reported to have died in Tampa Bay from Milton.
Florida communities are now working to recover and cleanup from the devastation left behind.
