The city of Rochester is stressing the importance, and availability, of local pharmacies. This comes after a number of local Walgreens pharmacies announced they would close.

"Rochester is no longer a pharmacy desert," Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said. "And thanks to these community partners, Rochesterians continue to have reliable and accessible pharmacy services."

The city and local health systems highlighted sites already in existence along with new efforts to offer pharmacy services.

Officials emphasized places like the University of Rochester Medical Center's Highland South Wedge Pharmacy on South Clinton Avenue or a new pharmacy by Jordan Health on Holland Street that are offering services.

The city also touted URMC's expanded footprint in opening the new Highland Pharmacy at Brooks Landing, along with the efforts of Rochester Regional Health’s St. Mary’s Campus.

Trillium Health also offers two pharmacy locations, 259 Monroe Ave. and 170 Science Parkway, in the city of Rochester.
