Columbia, S.C.—  According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health, influenza cases have risen within the state.

The week of Nov. 24-30 saw 155 lab-confirmed tests uprooted. The most current data available shows that there have been 875 lab-confirmed test so far this flu season. 

Typically, Flu season begins in October, with the peak activity starting in December and lasting until February.

Ten counties within the state reported patient visits for the flu that met the state’s baseline for the week.

DPH urges residents to get their annual flu shot as soon as possible in advance of upcoming seasonal and holiday gatherings.
