Through this tiny home initiative, Manifestations Worldwide Inc. is working to tackle the challenges faced by the veteran community, including homelessness, poverty and mental health issues.

The Rev. Dr. Mark T. Jones led a tour of the Manifest Veterans Village, which offers eight tiny homes for homeless veterans.

"We are zoned to put two more in," Jones told guests. "It’s a blessing to be able to build something like this to serve our veterans."

The development project is worth over half a million dollars and is the brainchild of Jones, who has been working to get it off the ground for several years. He said this is part of his mission to extend service beyond the four walls of his church.

"We moved here with a vision to build a Manifestation City, a place to transition for all people," he said. "Focusing on spiritual training ... but also creating jobs, affordable housing and educational services."

Lending his services to bring the vision to light is personal for The Beck Group architect and project designer Brian Canard.

"I’m an active member of the Florida National Guard," said Canard. "I’ve got 23 years of service. So, being a part of a project that creates homes for homeless veterans is really meaningful to me. It’s definitely a highlight of my career."

The 216-square-foot tiny home design includes a pullout bed, a fully equipped kitchen, and a washer and dryer, along with an ADA-compliant shower and restroom.

"It’s going to give that resident veteran a sense of ownership," Canard added.

Jones said this will be the first tiny home village in east Tampa, but he hopes that it won’t be the last.

"I just believe the community of faith can end homelessness," he said.

Jones said he hopes to motivate other congregations to address the affordable housing crisis.

Veterans will be moving into these tiny homes just in time for the holidays.
