As workers continue to make repairs at the Manatee County Central Library, the reopening date is still uncertain.

Tammy Parrott is the Library Services Manager for Manatee County and explained the damages the library sustained.

“There is some water that came through from our riverside opening,” she said.

She says the library has damages to its roof and interior from water intrusion. The study rooms were also gutted.

“We are excited to get everything back open,” she said.

She’s not sure how much water ended up inside the building, but says all the materials inside were saved.

“The books were OK. The artwork that we have in here is OK. It was really the building. The building did its job. It took care of the materials,” Parrott said.

Now, as they turn the page for a new beginning, Parrott hopes the library can be even better than before.

Even though you can’t go inside, there are resources still available, like curbside pick-up.
