BRANDON, Fla. — A fire broke out at the permanently closed Sears building at the Brandon Exchange mall, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials confirmed on Saturday.

Few details were immediately available about the incident, but officials confirmed there was a partial roof collapse.

The abandoned mall space had been under renovation, which fire officials say may make it difficult to determine what started the fire.

"Obviously it's difficult to find the fire origin due to possible structure collapse," said Division Chief Frank Herrera. "At one point we had to pull our crews out of there for potential structure collapse."

It took firefighters around 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.
