The Hawaii Department of Health’s Food and Drug Branch alerted the public to the recall and discontinuation of the Gerber brand Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks, because of a potential choking hazard to babies and small children.

Gerber Products Company issued the recall.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide, including in stores and supermarkets in Hawaii. The recall includes lot codes and sizes of Gerber Soothe N Chew Strawberry Apple and Banana flavors.

The recalled product are:

  • Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Strawberry Apple, 3.2 oz., UPC 0 15000 04618 7, all lot codes
  • Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Banana, 3.2 oz., UPC 0 15000 04608 8, all lot codes
  • Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Banana, 1.59 oz., UPC 0 15000 01015 7, all lot codes

The FDB is following up with Hawaii stores to ensure recalled products are no longer available for sale.

Consumers are advised to check to see if they purchased the recalled products and to not feed it to their child. The product can be returned to the retailer where it was purchased for a refund.

FDB advises that anyone who is concerned about injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider and call 911 immediately if it’s an emergency. Nationally, there has been one emergency room visit reported to Gerber to date.
